Abstract

One lung ventilation (OLV) can be a real challenge in the paediatric population, as the margin of errors
is minimum, the time to adapt and make decisions lessens, and stress levels increase. The anesthetic
management of a 5 year old girl with pneumatocele and bronchopleural fistula posted for thoracotomy
is described. Right sided endobronchial intubation with uncuffed PVC endotracheal tube (ETT) was
used for OLV. Thoracic epidural was given for perioperative analgesia and to facilitate postoperative
physiotherapy.
