About the Journal

‘Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care’ (Apicare Journal for short) first appeared as ‘Anaesthesia News’ in 1997. The first two issues contained few case reports and a review article. A portion of it was dedicated to news about the anesthesia and the anesthesiologists related activities in the country. An warm welcome by the anesthesiologists from all over the country prompted us to transform it into a scientific, research journal representing the four sister specialties of anesthesiology, pain management, intensive care and resuscitation with a new name of ‘Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care’ . Soon the research articles, case reports and review articles started to pour in, which compelled us to adopt a comprehensive peer review system. The journal has since thrived despite innumerable constraints, and now boasts to be one of the leading research oriented journals of the region.

We have an editorial board consisting of learned scholars of international repute Our area of circulation encompasses whole of South Asia and the Middle East and the journal is indexed / abstracted by almost all of the international agencies.

‘Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care’ has been registered by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and recognized and funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.

The journal has enhanced the number of issues from four to six with effect from January 2020, and now it is being published on bimonthly basis in the months of February, April, June, August, October and December every year.
