A 65 yrs old man with Type 2 diabetes was referred by his primary care physician to the weight centre for an evaluation of his obesity and recommendation for treatment options, including weight loss surgery. He was on 30 and 70 NPH before breakfast and before dinner and metformin 850 mg twice a day, atorvastatin, lisinopril, nifedepine, allopurinol, and aspirin. He had sleep apnea, but not on CPAP machine. His HbA1C was 6.1%. He was 343 lb,72 inches tall and his BMI (Quetelet index) ws 46.6 Kg/m2.
